momzz in the big DK

Okay, so, let's start with Easter Monday. Mom and I went for a walk up to Niva mountain and sat in the sun looking out at the sea until Susanne came to pick us up for Easter brunch at Michael's house. Unfortunately, Andreas and Niklas couldn't make it, but Mom got to meet Michael (of course), Magnus and Sebastian, Martine, Pascal, and Thierry, and even Karen came! We ate soooo much food; salads, bread, hummus, cheese, vegetables, etc. and, well, it wouldn't be Easter without Herring and Snaps (aka liquid fire with a hint of licorice. enticing, eh?)... "the herring need something to swim in" or so they say. I tried the Snaps and I think I'm pretty much set for the rest of my life. After hours of too much food, the whole crew went out for a walk to the harbor (classic Danish day party.. Mom says, "imagine doing this at home?!"). Anyway, it was a beautiful day to walk off all the herring before diving into dessert; cakes on cakes on cakes. The perfect "welcome to Denmark" day for Momma.

Magnus the Magnificent

LOL. love him

I sadly had to go to class on Tuesday, though I can't complain much considering I had the previous week off, a holiday on Monday, no class Wednesday, and took the liberty of excusing myself from Thursday/Friday classes to be a tourist with my moms. But Tuesday, moms toured without me, walking through castles and working out with soldiers. The usual. Lol. I still don't know the full story, but from what I have seen, those crazy mothers of mine decided to invite themselves to the soldier's workout session in the forest and then follow them around... or something. Anyway, they watched half naked men sprint and I visited an endoscopy suite at Bispebjerg hospital. You decide who had a better day.

Wednesday was our official Copenhagen tourist day. We took the train to Osterport station and then walked along the harbor stopping at various tourist destinations (the Little Mermaid, the Opera House, Parliament, etc.) ending at my favorite spot in Copenhagen.. Nyhavn! We met Christie there and sat on the pier and ate banana/nutella crepes (famous in Europe) and sunbathed before taking a boat tour of the harbor. After our tour, we walked down Stroget to Magasin (huge department store in Denmark) where I had a little surprise for the moms. We were all getting Danish spinning rings! Mothers-daughter bonding at its finest. Fingers all glammed out, we walked back to DIS so I could show moms where I go to school (occasionally.. lol). After that, we met up with Julia on the metro to go to Christiania for dinner at an organic/vegetarian cafe. SO good. Going back Saturday. Julia and I took them to the Royal Danish Theatre to see where we attend the ballet once a month, and then had to leave them to see Romeo and Juliet. I tried to get them tickets, but it was sold out.. not surprising, though, because it was definitely my favorite ballet to date. Got home at 11:30, said goodnight, and we all went to bed for another fun-filled day.

Thursday, we took the train up to Helsingor to show Mom Kronborg (Hamlet's Castle) and one of my favorite towns in Zealand. We walked around the castle/into the chapel, went to Henrik's photography studio, drank coffee in the sun across from the castle, and then met up with Erling (Michael's stepdad) for a historic tour of the town. A while later, Michael and Magnus met up with us for coffee and then we went back home for dinner.. Mom and I were cooking eggplant parm and fettucini alfredo. Success. After dinner, we spent the evening packing, snuggling, and crying (because I'm a 5 year old baby and I didn't want my mommy to leave me). I took the train to the airport with Mom the next morning and exchanged a tear soaked goodbye.. again. Wasn't the one at the bus station 3 months ago enough?! Of course it's a lot easier this time, knowing I see her again in less than 2 months, but hard, nonetheless. All in all, it was the perfect week in Denmark, being able to show Mom the place I call home #2. I wish Dad and Margaret (and everyone else I love) could share this with me as well... one day, perhaps:)
